FCM’s Green Municipal Fund GMF) releases new resource on transportation demand management

Transportation demand management (TDM) is the use of policies, programs, services and products to influence whether, why, when, where and how people travel.

FCM is pleased to announce the release of a new GMF resource: Improving Travel Options with Transportation Demand Management (TDM). Learn how your municipal government can implement TDM measures and reduce the need for new or widened roads, diminish the social costs of car use, and increase the return on your investment in transit, walking, cycling and carpooling facilities.

Improving Travel Options with Transportation Demand Management (TDM) includes:

  • a publication to read and share, including profiles of Canadian communities that have benefited from TDM, discussion of four key areas of municipal action (commitment, planning, services and promotion), and additional information sources; and

  • a customizable PowerPoint presentation, complete with speaking notes, to introduce TDM to your council, staff or peers.

Want to pursue a TDM initiative in your community?

FCM’s Green Municipal Fund™ offers financial assistance for municipal studies and projects related to sustainable transportation. The Fund provides financing and knowledge to support the development of communities that are more sustainable.
